Fabricators & Erectors

With all the work obtained in the Hudson Valley employing members of Ironworkers Local 417, it has led to the need to expand the current Ironworkers Training Facility in Newburgh.  Under the leadership of Local 417 Business Manager Mike Gaydos and Training Coordinator Matt Stoddard, Local 417 applied to Empire State Development for a grant to help fund that expansion.
As 2016 wound to a close, Empire State Development announced funding for projects in 2017 and included in that funding was a $350,000 grant towards a $ 1 million addition on the 417 Training Center on Route 32.  Included in the 4,800 square foot addition are two classrooms and more training space for the 300 member union and incoming apprentices.  Class include erection of structures, rebar, window installation and welding.
Work under way on the new Tappan Zee Bridge ($3.9 billion), the Montregin Resort Casino ($1.5 billion +) as well as planned work at Vassar Brothers Medical Center ($ 500 million) for a 696,000 square foot pavilion have many union locals trying to attract new apprentices and Local 417’s planned addition should help provide them the training space needed to train new members as well as to keep their current journeymen’s skills at the highest level.
Congratulations to Local 417 on the Empire State Award.
